How It Works
1. Equipment:
-
A stable WiFi connection is essential for smooth and uninterrupted lessons.
-
Students with an Apple iPad and pencil can work directly on the virtual whiteboard.
-
Other students will be sent a graphics tablet for effective collaboration on the virtual whiteboard.
2. Virtual Whiteboard:
-
We use Miro, a platform that allows real-time collaboration and includes learning tools to create more effective lessons.
-
All whiteboards are saved for revision, eventually building up to a useful revision guide.
3. Face to Face interaction:
-
Video calls are conducted via Skype or Teams to emulate face-to-face interaction.
-
This setup allows for open communication throughout the lessons.
4. Regular lesson reports:
-
Regular lesson reports are sent to keep parents in the loop about their child's progress and achievements.
Benefits of Online Tuition
While face-to-face tuition offers certain advantages, it has become somewhat outdated, especially as online tuition has surged in popularity since the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite common misconceptions about the effectiveness of online math tutoring, it provides several unique benefits that are not available with traditional in-person tutoring:
1. Efficient & cost effective:
Online lessons save time and money by allowing you to start immediately without the need for travel or traffic concerns, and eliminating travel reimbursement costs.
2. Face to face feel:
Lessons over Skype or Teams with video calling on provide the same face-to-face interaction, with the added comfort and convenience of being in a home environment.
3. Instant access to resources:
It's faster to access exam questions, notes, and other resources digitally than searching through paper materials. Online tools and websites can be easily integrated into lessons, enhancing the learning experience.
4. Improved Retention:
In traditional face-to-face lessons, students often forget material, a common issue in school environments. Online lessons offer the option to record sessions and automatically save virtual whiteboards, making it easy for students to revisit and review the content anytime, aiding in better retention and understanding.
